Diesel Training NW in conjunction with American Diesel Training Centers, is changing the way entry-level diesel technicians are developed, vetted, trained and placed with companies. Our 300 hour, hands-on program is based on roughly 400 tasks identified by the maintenance council (TMC) of the American Trucking Association and ASE as most critical for entry-level diesel mechanics.

This training position is in Lakewood WA, near Joint Base Lewis- McChord.

There are plenty of people who want to do the work. They just need basic training! We see it every day!

The traditional educational system is failing our students and companies. We've figured out a better way to do it and have proven our model. We're looking for someone who has a passion for teaching and training. We're not concerned with degrees, etc. We want someone who has spent time in a shop and knows what the REAL WORLD is like.

Job Responsibilities:

-Our program is hands-on. You will lecture, but the majority of time will be spent teaching people how to properly perform tasks on real equipment.

-Small class size of 8-12 student apprentices who are motivated to learn.

-Instruct diesel theory for roughly 60 minutes per session

-Manage on-line coursework.

-Mentor students, whose average age is 27 years old. We're not interested in babysitting.

-Meet and communicate with prospective partner companies as needed.

-Focus on Preventative Maintenance, Electrical, Brakes, Emissions, Wheels, Diagnostics. Limited engine and transmission work.

-Rank students on Attitude, Attendance, Mechanical Ability, Coursework and Work Ethic.

-Heavy daily interactions with students,.

Required Work Experience and Skills

-Significant experience in the field of diesel technology, either mechanic or manufacturing.

-ASE Certifications a plus, but not required.

-Comfort with technology, both learning and diagnostic a must.

-Cultural fit is extremely important.

-A willingness and desire to bring new people into this industry and shake up the status quo.
